Thanks for your interest in my full story. I get pretty candid with you, so I’m glad you are here to learn more about me and how I became a Health Coach!
So let’s get right to it.
I come from a family full of disease and illness. On my mother’s side, there’s a gene of heart disease. On my father’s side, there’s a gene of cancer. By the age of 21, I had lost of all four of my grandparents to those diseases and illnesses. My mother currently has hypertension and high cholesterol, and my father has been living with an autoimmune disease for the past 20 years.
What does that look like for me?? Not good.
I remember when I was a teenager, my mother told me she had just learned from her doctor that she has high cholesterol. Knowing that both of her parents passed from a heart attack and stroke respectively, in only their 60s, that really scared me.
This is where EVERYTHING changed.
I did everything in my power to learn more and more about living a healthier lifestyle so that I could help my mother’s health.
While doing this, I’m realizing I have a pretty darn good chance of suffering or even succumbing from this as well when I reach her age – or younger! So I made it a priority to change my entire lifestyle of living, and to help as many others that share the same fears as well. This became my passion. So much so, that I decided to make this permanent. In 2015, I enrolled into a Health Coaching program, and earned my certificate in the field.
About 3 weeks into the program, I found out I was pregnant. Best timing ever. Being pregnant made me a lot more aware of what I was putting into my body, so I decided to take full advantage of my program and put what I was learning into action. Because of that, I had a great pregnancy and recovery. Many of my friends were coming to me for advice on how to be happy and healthy while pregnant and during postpartum, and I've got to say, it brought me such joy to help other moms. So, I decided to pursue this even further and make this my niche. Which brought on the birth of Welsh Wellness.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. I hope to hear yours too.
